Coastal Cruises

"Shearwater" is berthed in Hafan Pwllheli (Marina) that provides easy walk-on/off access for passengers. Providing that weather conditions are suitable and we have sufficient passengers, we embark on 3 cruises daily.

10a.m. Cruise:- This cruise visits the seal and seabird colonies of the St. Tudwal's Islands and then on to the spectacular cliffs and bird-life of Hell's Mouth, returning to Pwllheli at approximately 12.30.

Sally the Seal

1.30p.m. Cruise:- We visit seal and seabird colonies of both St. Tudwal's and Bardsey Islands, return along the west coast of Bardsey Island, cruise through Bardsey Sound, and cross Aberdaron Bay to Ynys Gwylan Fawr. Here we pause and have tea by the puffin colony. We then follow the spectacular coast through Hell's Mouth, across Abersoch Bay to Llanbedrog Headland and after a cruise of almost 70 miles, we arrive back in Pwllheli at approximately 5.30.

6.15 p.m. Cruise:- Regular customers over the last 2 years of our operation asked us to put on a cruise where the fabulous coastal scenery could be viewed in the light of the setting sun. Our route is very similar to that of the morning cruise, but we linger far longer at the popular spots, particularly under the superbcliffs of Hell's Mouth where the sunset towards Bardsey Island can be seen at its best. Passengers can enjoy their picnic suppers during the slow and tranquil return along the coast, arriving back in Pwllheli at dusk.
